PRIDE Reunion 94-96

Well Jeff summed everything up beautifully! Thank you everyone for your help! It was awesome to see so many people, and to be able to reconnect! Thank you especially to the Committee members: Ginger G., Mindi B., Carly R., Missy G., Brad L., Spencer H., and Anna D. (hope I didn't forget anyone!). Thank you especially to Jarin B. as well for coming, bringing the music, and calling Jeff :) And thank you Donna and Jaci for hosting us at their house! I know I said this there, but seriously, thank you for your support everyone--and you're welcome! It was great to plan---but I couldn't do it without everyone's help and cooperation!

Anyway--will get pics up soon! And thanks Mindi B. and Donna for being willing to send group pics (as I don't think my camera was in with the pile of camera's in order to get those pics!!!)

Thoughts on the 94-96 Reunion

I should let Mary start this post, but I'm going to because I got here first... ;)
(Feel free to still leave your comments, Mary.)

I wasn't able to attend the park portion of the reunion, but I crashed the night party at Donna's house; and I'm so glad they welcomed me there. Despite it not being one of the year's I was on PRIDE, it turns out I had plenty of ties to people who attended (Jon Best, Spencer Hale, Kat Newell, BJ and Cheri Denison, Jack Threet, the Newbold clan, etc.)

I originally wasn't going to go, but Jarin Blackham (who provided the music) persisted in encouraging me to come, and I'm so glad he did.

Mary and the planning committee (forgive me for not knowing who all was involved) did a bang-up job putting together a very enjoyable reunion. It was really fun to sit back and watch as everyone from the final two years of PRIDE watched their video yearbooks from back-in-the-day. It reaffirms to me why Mary and I share the same passion of trying to do what we can to keep the PRIDEsters in touch.

For those of you that missed the reunion, you missed some good times. Jarin provided background music during dinner (the food was most excellent.) One of the PRIDE songs came on and Sonja (sorry, I don't remember her last name) got up and started busting out the moves! It was awesome to see someone remembered the dances! :)

The reunion committee also provided PRIDEster trivia and photo recognition games which were fun.

Afterward, we went inside to take group pictures (as soon as one is uploaded, we'll get it posted here... my apologies, I forgot my camera!!!) The group was having so much fun gabbing together (just like old times) that it was near impossible to sync up to snap the shot. Holding to tradition, we pulled a "1-2-3! Take PRIDE!"

Then we watched a video Spencer Hale put together from the events of the day and "now" pictures of the PRIDEsters; followed by the two video yearbooks from the final two years.

I had to leave after the first video yearbook, so I'm not sure what happened after that. I'll rely on you PRIDEsters that attended to fill in the gaps (make sure to tell about the park event too!)

Thanks to all that came, especially those that this event was important enough to come from out-of-state to attend. It means so much to everyone to see you!

I had so much fun, I'm looking forward to planning a 1991-1994 reunion in the future!

So everyone that attended the fabulous festivities, we want to hear from you! Please share with those that weren't able to come your thoughts and feelings about your experience; and thanks again to everyone both on the committee and those that attended, that made this reunion such a special success.

What was it the video said? "Once a PRIDEster... always a PRIDEster."

If you plan on attending the dinner--you need to pay. It is $15 per person, $30 for couple. So far we have about 22 people who have RSVP's for the dinner.

The park is "free" (meaning, we did pay a small fee for the reservation), so if you cannot come to the dinner, feel free to come to the park. If you have RSVP'd just for the park--THANK YOU!!! If you plan to come, please just let us know by sending an e-mail to pridereunion9495@gmail.com. Kids are very invited to the park!

Yes--you can pay for the dinner via Paypal--please e-mail at the same e-mail address if you would like to do that.

No--no more information is being accepted for the book (sorry!)--but if you get it to me (via pridereunion9495@gmail.com) by Friday, June 5th!!! And it might make it into the DVD.

Spencer is working on further info. on ordering the DVD's.

YEA!!! We got 10 pre-orders for the book--so we got the special price!!! If you would still like to order a book, e-mail Anna DeMille at idohm@mac.com.

Donna's address will be sent out soon to those who have RSVP's and PAID for their dinner :)

Who needs to pay for the dinner? Anyone who plans on eating and/or attending :)

So, PLEASE--if at all possible, RSVP for the dinner by this Friday, June 5th so we can finalize the head count ASAP.

The last day to send money for the dinner will be Monday, June 15th. (Meaning: It has to be in the mail by that Monday so the money can be sent to those in charge of food by that Wednesday).

Yes--we are working on a way for those of you who cannot attend, (i.e. live out of state) to possibly Skype or videocam in!!! More info. to follow...

Okay--hopefully that answered everyone's questions....Hope to hear from you by this Friday!

Thought Those Who Know Chris Timothy Would Want to Know

Utahna Carlson Timothy
Utahna Carlson Timothy "She is more precious than rubies... " Proverbs 3:15 Myrtle Utahna Carlson Timothy, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She had been suffering from a long illness. She was 78 years of age.

Born of Swedish immigrant parents, November 15, 1930 in Midvale, Utah to Carl Gustave and Emma Anderson Carlson. Her childhood was full of Swedish activities and memories of the Swedish community and relatives in her youth.

She graduated from Jordan High School in 1947 and was the Queen of the "Days of 47" that same year. She was on the Beetdigger newspaper staff and sang in the school choirs.

She attended the University of Utah and met the man of her dreams and married Merlin R Timothy on December 17, 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were happily married for sixty wonderful years.

An active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she held many positions in her church service: Sunday School and Primary organizations, Stake YWMIA President in the East Midvale Stake, Stake and Ward Relief Society President in the Monument Park Stake, Member of the Young Women General Board, and served in both the downtown Salt Lake City Mission and the Florida Tallahassee Mission with her husband.

Utahna started the Junior Utah Opera Guild for college age students in 1970 and was a member of the Allegro Women's Chorus. She loved the piano and played for years at dance studios, church and home. Her favorite song to play was "Bless This House."

She worked along side her husband at Sharp Cars, Inc. and Auto Express Rent-A-Car for over twenty years as the Financial Officer. Her family always came first in her thoughts and her deeds. Many of her nieces and nephews came to live with her for a period of time when she could have her wonderful influence on their lives. She was committed to making her family understand which things in life are the most important; the gospel of Jesus Christ, loving one another, and having integrity in your life.

Utahna was not a "sports enthusiast," but because of her family she was an awesome water skier, snow skier, marksman, and hunter of pheasants and deer. She enjoyed planting and working in her garden. She loved to work on genealogy, which filled her spirit. She was a consummate teacher of all things by example and direct instruction. She had many friends who felt her goodness through her service to them in simple ways. She continually thought of others and their comfort above her own including her family and friends, whom she loved unconditionally and with her whole heart.

She is survived by her husband Merlin R Timothy, daughter Christine Timothy, son Carl Timothy, and son Scott Timothy (Lori), and her grandchildren Peterson Timothy (Jenn), Lynda Timothy, Madison Timothy, and her sister Elna Ashcraft.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ruth Nix (Ken).

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Monument Park 15th Ward, 1320 So. Wasatch Blvd at 12:00 p.m.
A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 So, Salt Lake City, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5, 2009 and also from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the service taking place at the church.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Nasfat Shehadeh and his staff for their loving care.
The family also wishes to thank the Harmony Home Health and Hospice for their excellent and sensitive care, with a special thank you to an angel named "Lily."

With grateful appreciation in lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute at http://www.huntsmancancer.org/.

**I know the Newbold family just lost a grandmother as well. Our thoughts are with you at this time.***
